The Natural Wastewater Reclamation System is a natural process utilising aquatic plants employed in conjunction with classical means of broad sewage irrigation.
It consists of shallow basins connected by pipes. The purification is taking place in special filters, which are planted with marsh plants.
Operating Mode and System
Preliminary cleaning is necessary for every bio-logical sewage treatment plant. This can either be achieved mechanically by means of a septic tank or bio-mechanically by means of a PURE-Sewage-Sludge Treatment (PURE-SST) Bed.
The biological treatment unit consists of a filter bed overgrown by marsh plants. The filter bed has a vertical flow and a horizontal flow (hybrid-system). Purification is achieved by means of interaction of plants, soil and micro-organisms. By using an adjustable backflow through the system further nutrient reduction can be achieved.
