If buildings are situated in close proximity to the excavation, safety precautions have to be taken to protect the excavation pit from collapsing and avoid any damages to the adjoining buildings. To ensure excavation safety special foundation techniques are applied, e.g. the erection of sheet pile walls or anchored or not anchored bored pile walls.
